Every once in a while, your situation calls for something a little more extreme than a flame powered candle, but the sun won’t provide the solar power required to charge your batteries. Situations such as these are perfect opportunities for battery operated lamps. These types of lamps do away with the need for solar panels, and even electrical outlets, by encapsulating battery power. Typically found on desks, there are a few situations where a battery operated lamp outperforms solar and electrical time, and time again.
Decorative Lighting – Battery operated flameless candles are the perfect way to increase the warmth and elegance in your formal dining area during the holidays. You do not have to worry about them being knocked over from careless guests, because the lights will typically shut themselves off when they are knocked from the table. After the party is over, you can dim the lights and begin to enjoy the romantic glowing flicker provided by flameless candles.
Vehicle Emergencies – When your car breaks down during the middle of the night, you will usually be stuck without any light to help change the tire, or repair the engine malfunction. A solar powered light will not have received adequate power to help recharge the batteries, because the panel will be inside of the vehicle except when you are using the light. If the car does not run, you will have a hard time trying to get an electrical powered lamp to illuminate the area for you.
Hazardous Weather – During tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, and other weather related power outages, you are definitely going to want to make sure that you have an adequate supply of lighting to keep your family calm, and help move around your home without getting hurt. Times like these will make you thankful that you have battery operated lamps, as opposed to electric or solar powered lights.
There are a couple precautions you must take when depending on battery operated lamps in emergencies though. You need to ensure that you have an adequate supply of bulbs that will fit into the lamps that you are using. Bulbs burn out quite often, and having extras on hand can save a bad night. You also need to recharge the batteries, or have extra batteries on hand in your vehicle, as well as your home’s safety kit. Keeping these extras on hand will help you remain prepared for the worst case scenario.
